Wooster's Offense Sputters in 62-36 Setback to Kenyon
Scots held to lowest offensive output of the season
WOOSTER, Ohio – The College of Wooster was held to its lowest offensive output of the season Wednesday evening, as Kenyon College eased past the Fighting Scots 62-36 in a North Coast Athletic Conference women's basketball match-up at Timken Gymnasium.
The Scots (6-6, 1-2 NCAC) trailed by a manageable 13 points at the break, but the Ladies (9-3, 3-0 NCAC) opened the second half with a 3-pointer that kick-started a 14-2 scoring run which all but sealed the game's outcome.
Jessica Wingen led Wooster with 10 points and nine rebounds, and Maura Hall totaled eight points, a season-high 14 rebounds, and three steals.
Overall, the Scots shot just 17.0 percent (9-for-53) from the field, including 2-for-18 from behind the 3-point arc, while Kenyon shot 45.1 percent (23-for-51) overall. Wooster did win the rebounding battle, though, 46-34.
The Ladies were paced by Kayla Ernst, who scored 17 of her game-high 23 points in the first half. Also noteworthy, Maggie Boelter teased a triple-double with nine points, eight assists, and seven rebounds.
Next up, Wooster will head to Denison University (6-5, 1-1 NCAC) Saturday for a 7:30 p.m. tip-off.
