Behind a strong week from Jessica Wingen, The College of Wooster women's basketball team took a big step towards qualifying for the North Coast Athletic Conference Tournament, and for her efforts, the senior standout was named NCAC Player of the Week for the second time in her career, the league office announced Monday afternoon.

Wingen averaged a double-double (12.5 points, 11.5 rebounds) in the Scots' back-to-back wins over Ohio Wesleyan University and Wittenberg University last week.

On Wednesday, Wingen recorded game-highs in rebounds (10) and blocked shots (3) in Wooster's 69-46 victory against Ohio Wesleyan. It was the program's most decisive win against an NCAC opponent in nine years.

Over the weekend, the 6-1 center tallied her third 20-point effort of the last five games by scoring 21, 15 in the second half, in a 71-65 win over Wittenberg. She also added 13 rebounds and three blocked shots in the Scots' first victory over the Tigers since the 2009-10 season.

Wingen and the Scots (9-14, 4-10 NCAC) will look to keep in front of Oberlin College (8-16, 3-12 NCAC) and Hiram College (8-16, 3-12 NCAC) in the conference standings when they visit Allegheny College (13-10, 8-6 NCAC) this Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.
