WOOSTER, Ohio – For the second day in a row, The College of Wooster kept its turnovers to single-digits and shot exceptionally well from the free-throw line, as the Fighting Scots eased past Thiel College 81-70 on Sunday, to give them their second victory during the Nan Nichols Classic at Timken Gymnasium.

The Scots, off to a 2-0 start for the second-straight season, turned an early 10-10 tie into a 19-10 cushion with a nine-point scoring run, that included four points from Lauren Hancher.

From that point on, the Scots never trailed, and it was only really close once, when the Tomcats (0-2) drew within four at 34-30 with 4:14 remaining in the first half. Wooster went into the break up nine (41-32), though, and never led by fewer than seven points in the second half.

The story of the game was once again Wooster's dominance at the free-throw line, as it went 20-of-22 (90.9 percent), including a perfect 8-for-8 in the second half. For the weekend, the Scots went 50-for-56 at the charity stripe – good for an 89.3 percentage.

Leading the Scots once again was Maura Hall, as she posted her second-consecutive double-double on her way to tournament MVP honors. Hall went 7-for-12 from the field for 16 points, and added 12 rebounds and three assists.

Joining Hall on the all-tournament team was Karley Walker, who scored 13 points with six boards and three assists, while Sydney Failing and Hancher both reached double-figures with 14 and 12, respectively.

For Thiel, Hannah Stoneman scored 22 points, with 20 coming in the first half, en route to a spot on the all-tournament team.

In the early game, University of Mount Union pulled out a thrilling 68-67 win over Earlham College to push their weekend record to 2-0.  The Purple Raiders earned two all-tournament picks, Annie Bova and Katie Reed, while Earlham's Raven Bryant-Williams rounded out the all-tourney squad.
