Lauren Hancher's record-setting 40-point game has drawn praise on a national level, as D3hoops.com has named her to its "Team of the Week," the website announced Tuesday morning.
Hancher needed just one game to earn the distinction, as she scored a school-record 40 points against Hiram College on Wednesday, Jan. 28, passing D3hoops.com All-American Katie Montague's 17-year-old mark (38 points).
Just the 10th player in NCAA Div. III to join the 40-point club this season, Hancher got their shooting 15-of-24 (.625) from the field and 10-of-11 (.909) at the free throw line, while adding career-highs in both assists (4) and steals (5), and five rebounds.
Hancher, who has scored 30 and 28 points in games this season as well, currently paces the North Coast Athletic Conference with 17.8 points per game. Her and the Fighting Scots will be back in action tomorrow evening when they visit Ohio Wesleyan University at 6 p.m.
