Rachel Collins continued her strong finish to the year, with game-highs in points (16) and rebounds (8), but ultimately, The College of Wooster was unable to get past Kenyon College, as the Fighting Scots' season came to an end with a 71-51 loss on Saturday in North Coast Athletic Conference action at Gambier, Ohio.

In each of her last four games, Collins has totaled at least 12 points and six rebounds. Today, the sophomore scored 16 points on three 3-pointers and a 7-of-8 effort at the free throw line, while adding eight rebounds and two assists.

Although the Scots (1-24, 0-16 NCAC) were unable to get back into the win column, they played Kenyon (7-12, 5-11 NCAC) closely, especially over the game's first 10 minutes. During that time, a Lindy Howard 3-pointer pulled Wooster within one (8-7), as did a Sydney Grier jumper (10-9), but each time the Ladies maintained a narrow lead.

Kenyon threatened to pull away with back-to-back 3-pointers, pushing its advantage to 10 (21-11), but Collins respond with her own 3-ball to cut the deficit to seven at 21-14.

Eventually, Kenyon built its largest lead of the half (32-19), but Wooster went into the break on a 5-0 scoring run, including a Hannah Kiser 3-pointer, which made it an eight-point game (32-24) at halftime.

The Scots didn't get any closer than that, as the Ladies opened the second stanza on their own 8-2 scoring run, which might have been the turning point in the contest.

Overall, Wooster made 19 free throws, its third-most this season, but that wasn't enough to offset a season-low 13 field goals which came on 28.9 percent shooting (13-of-45).

Along with Collins' 16 tallies, Lauren Hancher capped off her special season with 12 points, marking the 23rd time she scored in double figures this year. Grier, Kiser, and Aki Shurelds were next in line with five points apiece.

Howard, the team's lone senior, wrapped up her career on a high note, as she made a 3-pointer in six of her last eight games and pulled down 23 rebounds during that span.
