Hancher Named NCAC Player-of-the-Week

Lauren Hancher

Senior Lauren Hancher earned North Coast Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Player-of-the-Week honors for the first time, the league office announced on Monday afternoon, for her big performance in The College of Wooster's 52-50 win over Oberlin College last Wednesday.

Hancher helped the Fighting Scots get off to a strong start with 10-straight points as part of a 12-0 run in the first period, a stretch that staked them to a seven-point lead. The outing marked the third in a rown, in which the forward has scored at least eight points during the opening stanza.

For the contest, Hancher scored a game-high 20 points, including a layup in the fourth period to move into fifth on Wooster's all-time scoring list (1,098). She contributed an all-around effort, adding eight rebounds, four steals, two assists, and one block.

Wooster (5-3) returns to action this Friday with a 7:30 p.m. home tilt against Bluffton University (7-0).
