Hancher Nets Second Career NCAC Player-of-the-Week Honor

 Lauren Hancher

Senior Lauren Hancher's big moments in program history last week were recognized by the North Coast Athletic Conference, as the league office tabbed the dual-sport standout as the NCAC Women's Basketball Player-of-the-Week for the second time this season on Monday.

Hancher, who averaged 20.5 points per game last week, had a big role in The College of Wooster's 65-50 win at Hiram College on Wednesday. The forward poured in 32 points, one point shy of a single-game top-10 total. During the game, the senior passed Carly Loehrke (1,338 points from 2003-07) for third on Wooster's all-time scoring list.

Earlier in the Hiram tilt, Hancher surpassed W Association Hall of Famer, and current coach, Lisa Panepento (551 field goals from 1983-87) for second on the all-time field goal makes list.

Then, on Saturday against Wittenberg University, Hancher cracked the top-10 lists in the program annals for single-season field goals and points. She is the only player in program history to currently rank in the top-10 for single-season field goals three different times, while her second appearance on the single-season top-10 scoring list is one of four in program history.

Hancher was previously the NCAC Player-of-the-Week on Dec. 14, 2015.

Hancher and her teammates are in action on Wednesday with a 7:30 p.m. tilt versus Allegheny College (12-11, 7-7 NCAC). The game is Wooster's "Play 4Kay" night, and fans are encouraged to wear pink attire in support of cancer awareness.
