The College of Wooster women's basketball team scored fifteen unanswered points to begin the fourth quarter and comfortably won 75-54 over Bethany College in its season opener.

In the second game of the 2019 Nan Nichols Classic, the Scots hit five 3-pointers to distance themselves from Bethany in that span. Each basket was scored by a different Scot as sophomore Jenna Stanton started the scoring and Akwia Tilton, Cat Fiorito, Sarah Marion and A'Janay Nicholson followed suit.

That made a 53-48 game after three quarters into a 68-48 game with 5:38 remaining.

The sophomore Nicholson came off the bench and led the team with a career-high 14 points. She also added eight rebounds and a game-high four steals.

Junior Maria Janasko started the season with her first double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Marion was a point shy of her career-high as she finished with 13. The other Scot to finish in double figures was Stanton, who finished with 10 points.

Wooster shot 39 percent from the floor (29-of-75) and 38 percent from 3-point range (11-of-29). They also shot 6-of-10 from the charity stripe.

They outrebounded Bethany 44-29, and its defense collected 16 steals.

Both teams will continue play in the Nan Nichols Classic tomorrow. Wooster (1-0) will face Mount Union in the second game at 3 p.m., while Bethany (0-3) will meet Oberlin College at 1 p.m.
