Five reached double figures and a pair had career days as The College of Wooster women's basketball team defeated Geneva College 87-51 on Saturday.

Senior Akwia Tilton led all scorers with a career-high 18 points, while sophomore A'Janay Nicholson followed with a career-high of her own with 17 points. Sophomore Jenna Stanton added 13 points, senior Aubri McKoy chipped in 12 and senior Cat Fiorito added 11 of her own.

Nicholson also tallied a career-high in steals with five, and sophomore Masani Francis finished with three points and a career-high five assists. First-year Namara Rwakatare tallied her first career point with a free throw in the fourth quarter.

The Scots scored the second-most points in a half in program history after taking a 54-24 lead at halftime. They led 28-13 after the first quarter and used a 14-0 run in the second to pull away even further.

In the midst of the game-high 14 unanswered points, the Scots' full court pressure allowed them to score eight points in 43 seconds by collecting a steal and a fast break layup four times in row.

Overall, the Scots stole the ball 25 times, which tied for fourth all-time in program history. They converted 41 points off Geneva's mistakes and outscored them in the paint, 44-30, and in fast break points, 17-6.

The Scots contained Geneva leading scorer and rebounder Lauren Tipton, who finished with 10 points and nine rebounds. She entered averaging 18.3 ppg and 13.5 rpg.

Wooster did not have the best day from beyond the arc, but Geneva was worse. Wooster shot 21 percent (5-for-24), and Geneva shot 14 percent (4-of-29).

Wooster shot 43 percent from the floor (35-of-81), and Geneva ended up shooting 28 percent (21-of-74). The Scots also went 12-of-19 from the line (63 percent).

Wooster improves to 2-2 overall, while Geneva drops to 1-4. The Scots return to action Tuesday when they host Muskingum University at 7 p.m.
