Senior Cat Fiorito finished with 12 points and a career-high 11 assists to aid in Tuesday's 79-75 win over Muskingum University.

The College of Wooster women's basketball team dug out of a first-quarter 15-point deficit to defeat Muskingum University 79-75 on Tuesday.

The game was tied with 1:48 remaining in the game until junior Maria Janasko grabbed an offensive rebound and connected on a putback. After two stops on the defensive end, senior Cat Fiorito found classmate Aubri McKoy who scored in the paint and drew a foul with 27 seconds left to put Wooster up 75-71. 

After McKoy missed the free throw, Muskingum scored on layups on their next two possessions, but sophomore Jenna Stanton and junior Sarah Marion would each go 2-for-2 from the foul line on Wooster's next two possessions to put the game out of reach.

Wooster went 6-of-7 from the line in the final stanza despite shooting just 52 percent for the game (14-of-27). They finished shooting 42 percent (30-of-72) from the floor and 31 percent (5-of-16) from beyond the arc.

Fiorito was key with six assists in the fourth quarter as she dished out a career-high 11 assists. She was three rebounds away from a triple-double and finished with 12 points.

Janasko led all scorers with 20 points. She also collected a game-high eight rebounds along with Akwia Tilton and A'Janay Nicholson.

Wooster outrebounded the Muskies 44-33.

McKoy scored 13 points off the bench, which was one shy of tying her career-high, and grabbed four rebounds. Marion finished with 12 points and four rebounds. Tilton had nine points, eight rebounds and five steals.

Muskingum had five players reach double figures, led by 16 points from Emily Yeager. The Muskies shot 47 percent (27-of-58) from the floor but turned the ball over 32 times.

Wooster scored 44 points in the paint and 19 second chance points.

When Wooster trailed by as many as 15, they ended the first quarter with a 7-0 run to cut the deficit to just eight. They finally tied the game up in the final minute of the first half and took their first lead with the first basket of the second half at 36-35.

They held that lead for just eight seconds and trailed by seven with just under nine minutes remaining in the fourth. However, a 10-3 run tied the game at 62, and they never trailed again in the final 3:39.

Muskingum drops to 2-2 overall as Wooster avenges a 71-61 loss from last year.

Wooster is now 3-2, winners on two straight, and will travel to Allegheny College on Dec. 4 to open North Coast Athletic Conference play.
