Sophomore Masani Francis more than doubled her career-high with 29 points and led The College of Wooster women's basketball team to an 85-75 North Coast Athletic Conference win over Oberlin College on Wednesday.

Francis, whose previous career-high was 12 points, went off in the second half with 13 points in the third quarter and another 12 in the fourth. She went 8-for-11 from the floor, 5-for-7 from 3-point range and 8-for-9 from the charity stripe.

Francis broke a 62-62 tie with a 3-pointer early in the fourth. Later, she capped off Wooster's best run of the game with a 3-pointer to make it 72-66.

During that 7-0 run, Wooster retook the lead and never trailed for the rest of the game. They led by as many as 12.

The Scots fought back from a nine-point deficit in the second quarter. Francis scored on an and-1 opportunity to give Wooster a 23-21 lead but that sparked a 7-0 run by the Yeowomen, who led 38-31 at halftime.

Wooster cut the lead to two by the end of the third quarter and then took complete control with a 27-15 fourth quarter.

Senior Aubri McKoy scored 13 points, junior Maria Janasko added 12 and senior Cat Fiorito tallied 11. Oberlin was led by a 21-point performance from Jasmine Sorrells.

Wooster shot 37 percent (21-for-57) from the floor and 7-for-20 from range. The team scored 54 second half points, tied for third all-time in program history.

They were 36-for-47 (77 percent) from the foul line, which tied the school record for made free throws in a game and broke the record for free throws attempted. In 2001, the Scots went 36-for-44 versus Lake Erie College.

Oberlin (4-10, 2-4 NCAC) shot 49 percent from the floor (28-for-57), 31 percent from range (4-for-13) and 68 percent (15-for-22) from the charity stripe.

The Fighting Scots pick up their first win for interim coach Nicole Marshall and their first NCAC win to improve to 5-10 overall and 1-5 in the conference. They host Wittenberg University on Saturday.
