The College of Wooster women's basketball team fell victim to a Wittenberg University team who shot over 50 percent from the floor in an 80-74 North Coast Athletic Conference loss on Saturday.

Wittenberg shot a blistering 51 percent (33-for-65) from the floor, including a 21-for-37 mark (57 percent) in the first half. Wooster shot 42 percent for the game (28-for-67) and, despite Wittenberg's hot start, only found themselves down six at halftime.

In the first half, Wooster took an 11-10 lead after a 3-pointer from Aubri McKoy. Yet, six straight points from the Tigers gave Wittenberg the lead once again.

Wittenberg led 25-19 after the first quarter as Wooster could never get over that hump. The two teams tied quarters the rest of the way as the lead stayed at six after each stanza.

Wooster was only able to decrease it to four with eight seconds remaining in the game after a Kylie Orr 3-pointer.

The Tigers led by as many as 14 in the second quarter, but an 11-3 run by the Fighting Scots cut the deficit back to six at halftime. A'Janay Nicholson started the run by connecting on an and-1 opportunity, and Sarah Marion accomplished the same feat on Wooster's next score.

Jenna Stanton connected on a 3-pointer, and Maria Janasko ended the run with a basket in the paint.

Janasko led the Scots with her fourth double-double on the year on 19 points and 10 rebounds. McKoy scored 12 points and grabbed five rebounds.

Masani Francis scored 11 points - a game after her career-high 29-point performance in an 85-75 win over Oberlin College. Stanton added eight points, while Nicholson and Akwia Tilton added seven.

Wittenberg had four players in double figures, led by 19 points from Abigail Yunker. The Tigers had four players with six or more rebounds and outrebounded Wooster 39-32.

Wittenberg was 5-for-16 from 3-point range (31 percent) and 9-for-10 (90 percent) from the foul line. Wooster shot just 26 percent from deep (5-for-19) and 68 percent (13-for-19) from the charity stripe.

Wooster outscored the Tigers in the paint 44-30 and in bench points 29-8.

Wittenberg moves to 12-4 overall and 5-2 in the NCAC, while Wooster drops to 5-11 overall and 1-6 in the conference.  Next, the Scots travel to Denison University on Wednesday.
