The College of Wooster women's basketball team put together a viable effort in their final game of the season, but third-ranked DePauw University was too much on Saturday in a 78-53 loss.

North Coast Athletic Conference leading scorer Sydney Kopp scored a game-high 25 points and seven rebounds in the win. Mya Shannon added 17 points off the bench.

For Wooster, junior Maria Janasko led the way with 16 points and five rebounds, shooting a 10-for-15 clip from the foul line.

Senior Kylie Orr scored nine points off three 3-pointers, and sophomore A'Janay Nicholson scored nine off the bench. Senior Cat Fiorito tallied seven points and five rebounds.

Wooster's only lead came on the opening bucket, as senior Akwia Tilton put Wooster on the board. The defense held DePauw to just six points in the first 4:30 as Janasko converted an and-one opportunity to tie the game at six.

DePauw (24-1, 16-0 NCAC), the outright NCAC Regular Season Champions, scored 10 straight from there and took a 25-17 lead after the first quarter.

The Tigers grew that lead in every quarter but only did so by two in the second to lead 42-32 at halftime. The lead stayed in double figures for the second half.

Wooster shot 26 percent (13-for-51) from the court, 13 percent (2-for-16) from deep and 76 percent (25-for-33) from the charity stripe. DePauw shot 51 percent (29-for-57) overall, 19 percent (3-for-16) from 3-point range and 68 percent (17-for-25) from the line.

DePauw won the battle on the glass 44-29 and collected 12 second chance points. Wooster was outscored in the paint 42-20 and in bench points 32-15.

Wooster finishes the year at 7-18 overall and 3-13 in the NCAC, improving one win from the year prior. Before the game, seniors Fiorito, Tilton, Orr, and Aubri McKoy were honored.
