Three Pointers Don't Fall as Wooster Loses to Capital
Holloway scores 20, and Biondi records a double-double in 76-50 loss
The College of Wooster women's basketball team fell to Capital University on Tuesday 76-50.
Junior Harley Holloway reached the 20-point mark for the second time this season, scoring a game-high 20 points on 6-of-13 shooting. First-year Ella Biondi recorded her third double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds.
Capital had four reach double figures in scoring and were led by 15 from Samaree Perkins.
Wooster led after the opening stanza 15-14 as Holloway scored eight first quarter points.
Ultimately, however, Wooster just didn't hit shots. They shot 28 percent for the game (16-of-58), 13 percent (3-of-24) from 3-point range and just 50 percent (15-of-30) from the charity stripe.
Wooster trailed 28-20 late in the second quarter but went on a mini 7-0 run that brought them to within one with 1:28 left in the half. They went to Biondi three times in the paint in that stretch and she connected on all accounts for six points.
Capital would get a little bit of separation to lead 36-29 at halftime.
In the third quarter, Capital opened on an 8-2 run and its lead was never truly threatened from there. Holloway tried to form a spark with back-to-back 3-pointers to make it 51-45, but Capital would score the final five points of the quarter to lead 56-45.
Holloway hit all three of Wooster's 3-pointers in the game.
Capital used a 20-5 fourth to close out the game as Wooster went cold from the field and scored all five points from the foul line.
After a poor first quarter shooting, Capital ended up shooting 44 percent from the floor (27-of-61), 32 percent (6-of-19) from range and 76 percent (16-of-21) from the foul line.
Wooster first-year Ella Dean added six points, while classmate Mia Walker scored five off the bench.
Capital moves to 3-1, while Wooster drops to 1-4. Wooster has a short break until they return to action when they host Penn State Behrend next Wednesday.
