Scots Wrap Up First Half of NCAC Schedule
Biondi shoots 5 of 5 from the floor, leads Wooster scorers with 10 points
The College of Wooster women's basketball team has now wrapped up the first half of its North Coast Athletic Conference schedule after falling to DePauw University 92-39 on Saturday.
DePauw (12-5, 6-1 NCAC), who is second in the conference after a loss last week to ranked Ohio Wesleyan University, was efficient offensively and brought the pressure on defense for alll four quarters.
The Tigers shot 56 percent (36 of 64) from the floor, 48 percent (10 of 21) from 3-point range and 83 percent (10 of 12) from the line. In addition, they forced Wooster to commit 28 turnovers, which resulted in 42 DePauw points.
Meanwhile, Wooster did not shoot the ball poorly but took almost half the attempts of the Tigers. Wooster shot 44 percent (16 of 36) from the floor, 33 percent (5 of 15) from range and was just 2 of 4 from the charity stripe.
DePauw had three score in double figures. Riley Mont led all scorers with 13 points.
For Wooster, junior Ella Biondi scored 10 points on 5 of 5 shooting. Ella Dean, Ace Sturdivant and Mackenzie Riccitelli each scored seven points.
It was the first time all season Riccitelli did not hit double figures in scoring.
Erica Beaty added four points and four rebounds, while Anna Hardink and Lynx Lander each added a bucket.
Wooster (4-14, 1-6 NCAC) held the lead once, following a 3-pointer from Beaty to make it 3-2 in the opening minute. DePauw's best run came at 11-0 in the second, while Wooster put together a 6-0 run in the third.
DePauw had 28 rebounds to Wooster's 13 and only committed seven turnovers.
The Scots won't be in action again until next Saturday when they host Wittenberg University.
