Wooster Outduels OWU in Inaugural Women’s Golf Event
Zahorsky paces all competitors with a 102 score
The College of Wooster women's golf team's official debut was a successful one Saturday afternoon, as the Fighting Scots defeated Ohio Wesleyan University by a 422-468 score in a dual match between the two first-year programs at Wooster Country Club.
Wooster displayed consistency throughout the lineup, as its four scorers finished within six strokes of each other. Playing at the top of the order was junior Janet Zahorsky and she led the way with a 102, highlighted by a birdie on the second hole of the par-72, 6454-yard course.
Four shots off of Zahorsky's pace were teammates Jane Siegel and DaSol Kuen, both carding 106s, and Nicki Gustafson was another two back at 108. Rounding out the Scots' opening lineup, which did not include its anticipated No. 1 golfer (Rainey Sullivan) due to injury, was Joanie Jenkins and her 115 was better than all but two of Ohio Wesleyan's scores.
Pacing the Battling Bishops was Alison Falk (107).
Next Sunday, Wooster will participate in the Hiram Fall Invitational.
