The College of Wooster women's golf team hosted their first-ever Wooster Invitational on Saturday at the 5,815 yard par-72 Wooster Country Club, and Rainey Sullivan was named the individual medalist to highlight the Fighting Scots tie for third-place in the standings.
John Carroll University won the event with a 407 team score, but it was Sullivan who bested 31 others individually, as she shot a 92 (46-46), which included a par on the 467-yard seventh hole. Wooster's next best round was turned in by DaSol Kuen, who scored a 102 (50-52), while Janet Zahorsky was right behind with a 103 (51-52). Nichole Gustafson and Joanie Jenkins each shot 122's, with only Gustafson's round counting towards the team score.
The Scots, who came into the clubhouse with a 419, finished tied for third-place with Capital University. Behind first-place John Carroll was Musking University (417) in second, and finishing fifth was Denison University with a 423.
Next up, Wooster will compete in the Laura Bump Invitational on Saturday and Sunday at the Mill Creek Golf Club in Ostrander, Ohio.
