Season-Low 18-Hole Team Score Keys 4th-Place Finish
Kuen, Sullivan both finish among top-20 at Bump Invitational
Behind a season-low 388 during the first 18 holes, The College of Wooster women's golf team finished in fourth-place at the seven-team Laura Bump Invitational, held at Mill Creek Golf Club in Ostrander, Ohio, Saturday and Sunday.
Keyed by 92s from both DaSol Kuen and Rainey Sullivan, Wooster was in third-place through 18, but fell victim to some highly-windy conditions the second 18 and scored a 422 for an 810 total. That allowed Capital University to pass up the Fighting Scots for third-place (806), however, Wooster did finish in front of three of its North Coast Athletic Conference counterparts in Denison University (839), Hiram College (861), and Ohio Wesleyan University (886).
Sullivan overcame Sunday's winds and turned in another sub-100 round with a 98, resulting in a 13th-place individual finish (190). Kuen was not far behind in 16th (196), while also scoring both days for Wooster was Janet Zahorsky, who carded 99 and 106 and tied for 21st (205).
The Scots' other two starters were Nichole Gustafson and Joanie Jenkins. Jenkins contributed to the team score via a 105 the first 18 and Gustafson did so the second 18 with a 114.
Next, Wooster hosts the first of two weekends of the NCAC Golf Championship Series, as the league teams will play 36 holes Saturday and Easter Sunday at the Wooster Country Club. Scores will go toward the final league standings.
