Scots Fourth at Season-Opening OWU Invitational

The College of Wooster women's golf team kicked off 2011-12, its second season as a varsity program, on Saturday with a fourth-place finish among four evenly-matched groups at the Ohio Wesleyan Invitational, held at Mill Creek Golf Club in Ostrander, Ohio.

Wooster totaled a 389, just 14 strokes off the pace of team champion Denison University (375), followed by Ohio Wesleyan University (379) and Urbana University (380).

Individually, three of the Fighting Scots' players shot in the 90s, led by Janet Zahorsky with a 90, which was four behind medalist Amanda Castle (86) of Denison University. A single stroke behind Zahorsky was teammate Rainey Sullivan (91), and also scoring for Wooster were Alyssa Gilbert (99) and Joanie Jenkins (109).

Wooster will host its own 18-hole invitational next Saturday.
