Chinoy Stands Out at Purple and White Invitational

Sharmeen Chinoy placed 17th among a large field of golfers at the Purple and White Invitational, highlighting The College of Wooster's results at the two-day event, which took place Saturday and Sunday at the Westchester Golf Course in Canal Winchester, Ohio.

Competing against 67 other golfers from 12 different schools, Chinoy recorded one of the lowest rounds of the weekend on day one with an 84, and then she shot a solid 93 on Sunday. Overall, she carded a 177 over 36 holes, which was good for 17th-place.

Alyssia Gilbert was next in line, as she showed a 15-stroke improvement Sunday, shooting a 94, compared to her 109 the day prior, giving her a 203. Karley Walker (212), Nichole Gustafson (221), and Savannah Glidewell (229) rounded out Wooster's other scorers.

The Scots finished in 11th-place with 813 strokes, which was right behind Heidelberg University (808) and University of Northwestern Ohio (806). The team championship went to Wooster's fellow North Coast Athletic Conference foe Allegheny College (650).

Next up, Wooster hosts the Mohican Classic at the Mohican Hills Golf Club in Jeromesville, Ohio on April 20-21.
