Scots’ Spring Trip Includes Dual Win Over OWU

St. Patrick's Day team
Wooster was feeling festive prior to its practice round on St. Patrick's Day.

The College of Wooster women's golf team took part in a pair of competitions at the Old South Golf Links at Bluffton, S.C., one a traditional dual match against Ohio Wesleyan University and the other a match play event with Otterbein University, during its annual spring break trip to the southeastern United States.

On March 13, Wooster defeated fellow North Coast Athletic Conference foe Ohio Wesleyan, 378-396, behind sophomore Sharmeen Chinoy's 82. Chinoy was the medalist, covering the 5,803-yard course in eight strokes less than anybody else as the Battling Bishops' Jillian Bell was next with a 90. Also scoring for the Fighting Scots were senior Rainey Sullivan (95), and first-years Emily Howerton (100) and Hannah Buzolits (101).

On March 18, Wooster came up on the short end of five of the eight individual matches with Otterbein, falling 5-3, but there were several notable results. Howerton trimmed her score 10 shots to 90, which matched Chinoy's round that day, while another first-year, Mallorey Stack, carded a 93. Sullivan added an even 100.

The Scots resume their normal tournament play in northeast Ohio this coming weekend with a trip to Tannenhauf Golf Club for the Mount Union Spring Invitational.
