The College of Wooster women's golf team maintained its sixth-place standing during the second set of 36 holes of the North Coast Athletic Conference Golf Championship Series, hosted by Wabash College on Saturday and Sunday at the Crawfordsville Country Club in Crawfordsville, Ind.

Wooster shot three strokes lower this weekend, totaling a 705, thanks to closing the season with a strong round of 343 on the par-72, 5859-yard course, but was unable to catch Ohio Wesleyan University for a top-five placement. The Fighting Scots outscored the rival Battling Bishops by three on Sunday, however, Ohio Wesleyan had begun the weekend with an 11-stroke advantage and increased it Saturday.

Sharmeen Chinoy led Wooster both rounds at the Crawfordsville Country Club with an 89 and 83, edging teammate Hannah Buzolits each time as the latter carded 90 and 84. That put Chinoy among the top half of the individual field this weekend, tying for 16th (172), but it was Buzolits who had the slightly higher finish for the NCAC Championship Series. Buzolits came in a 14th-place tie over the four rounds (342 or an average of 85.5), while Chinoy was 16th (344; 86.0).

Other highlights from the weekend included Janet Zahorsky closing out her career with an 85 on Sunday. The senior and one of the original members of the four-year varsity program, along with Rainey Sullivan, also was part of Saturday's scoring with a 90. Sullivan turned in a 91 to contribute during the last round of her career, while Emily Howerton was part of the team scoring the first 18 of this weekend with a 93.

The evenly-matched trio of Zahorsky, Sullivan, and Howerton were 27th (366), 28th (370), and 29th (372), respectively, for the NCAC Golf Championship Series.

The Scots have a strong foundation for the future with the likes of Chinoy, Buzolits, and Howerton, all currently underclassmen.
