Three of The College of Wooster's starting five – junior Sharmeen Chinoy, sophomore Emily Howerton, and first-year Victoria Roney – were named as Women's Golf Coaches Association All-American Scholars for the 2014-15 season, it was announced by the WGCA on Monday.

Chinoy, honored with the award for a third time, was one of the Fighting Scots' top players once again. She overcame a couple of uncharacteristic rounds late in the season to average 87.4 strokes, and of the nine "traditional tournaments" Wooster played, she finished among the top-10 in three, highlighted by medalist honors at the Ohio Wesleyan University Fall Invitational when she shot 77-78 to top the field of 63. Chinoy majors in psychology while minoring in both communication studies and physical education, and owns a 3.61 cumulative GPA.

Howerton, also a repeat selection as a WGCA All-American Scholar, developed into the Fighting Scots' No. 1 golfer, recording 85.8 strokes per round. She posted three top-10's at tournaments and led the squad with a 17th-place showing during the North Coast Athletic Conference Golf Championship Series (89-81-91-84). The mathematics major holds a perfect 4.00 GPA through four semesters at Wooster.

Roney steadily improved during her initial season and regularly factored in the team score. Overall, she averaged 91.1 strokes, with a low of 83 coming during the second 18 holes of the NCAC Championship Series, and she compiled a 3.64 GPA during the academic year.

According to the WGCA, "the criteria for selection to its All-American Scholar Team are some of the most stringent in all of college athletics."
