WOOSTER, Ohio – The College of Wooster women's golf team capped its fall season on a high note, as the Fighting Scots repeated as the champion of the Eva Shorb Weiskopf Invitational on Sunday afternoon at Wooster Country Club.

Senior Hannah Appleman's eight-stroke bounce back on Sunday was one of the keys in Wooster winning the Eva Shorb Weiskopf Invitational for the second straight year.

Wooster started the day five strokes back of Otterbein University, and thanks to the play of junior Lilly Dunning and senior Hannah Appleman, the Scots came in at 696, two strokes ahead of the Cardinals. Dunning's 81 on Sunday marked the second-lowest round of the tournament by any player, and the political science major carded a pair of birdies over her final 18 holes of the fall. She finished as the runner-up at 166. Appleman's 84 on Sunday marked an eight-stroke bounce back from Saturday's round, and that vaulted the philosophy major up to a tie for ninth-place.

Junior Megan Gronau factored heavily into the team victory as well. She placed fifth at 171 after super consistent rounds of 85 and 86. The neuroscience major had a co-tournament-leading 16 pars, and she finished second in the field in par-5 scoring.

Senior Kaci Carpenter followed her 92 on Saturday up with a 91 and placed 17th at 183. She had two birdies over the final 18 holes of play. Sophomore Meghan Wright rounded out the lineup. She placed 20th after back-to-back 94s.

Sophomore Kayla Audette led Wooster's quartet of individual entries with a 173. She tied for sixth-place and ended the fall with an 83, one shy of her collegiate-best.

Ohio Wesleyan University's Alexis Reichardt was the medalist at 165.

Wooster won two tournaments this fall and finished as the runner-up twice. The Scots will receive an additional boost to their ranks this spring with the return of junior Tongtong Wu, who is currently studying abroad.
