Season-lows by three College of Wooster women's golfers propelled the Fighting Scots past Allegheny College in an exciting dual match on Saturday afternoon at the par-71, 5,714-yard Raccoon Hill Golf Club in Kent, Ohio. Wooster topped Allegheny 346-349.

Hole No. 14 played a big role in Saturday's outcome. There, Wooster's scoring golfers – senior Megan Gronau, first-year Melissa Cooke, junior Kayla Audette, and senior Tongtong Wu - combined for a 17, five strokes better than Allegheny's four scorers. That proved to be the difference with Allegheny pulling back within three strokes on hole No. 15, and then the four scorers for each team carded a combined 53 over the final three holes.

Gronau, Wooster's anchor, was one of the three Scots with a season-low at 84, which tied her with Allegheny's Izzy Krzys for medalist honors. Gronau ranked second in the field in par-3 scoring at 3.25 strokes and in par-4 scoring with 4.64 strokes, and she had a field-leading eight pars on the day.

Cooke placed third, her best collegiate finish, and second straight top-five showing. Cooke's 85 marked a new collegiate-best by five strokes. She was second in the field with seven pars, and added a birdie on the par-4, 320-yard No. 9.

Audette bettered her season-best by 10 strokes with Saturday's 88 tied for the fourth-lowest score on the day. Audette carded one of Wooster's seven birdies, with that coming on the par-5, 530-yard No. 10.

Wu rounded out the scorers at 89. The Scots' senior started the round with a birdie on the par-4, 340-yard No. 1, and she also birded No. 10.

Sophomore Riley Thorr shot a 99 to round out the lineup, while first-year Drew Patterson (111) competed as an individual.

Next, Wooster hosts Denison University on Sunday, April 4 at the Wooster Country Club at 11 a.m.
