The College of Wooster women's golf team turned in its best round of the season, and the Fighting Scots are comfortably ahead of Allegheny College at the programs' two-day, 36-hole dual at the par-70, 5,603-yard Windmill Lakes Golf Club.

Wooster, which shot a 331 - the program's lowest round of the year by 11 strokes - was led by senior Megan Gronau's clubhouse-leading 78. Gronau had two of the day's four birdies, with the neuroscience major's coming on the par-4, 329-yard No. 13 and the par-4, 339-yard No. 15. Gronau led the field in par-4 scoring (4.33) and was in the top-two in par-3 scoring (3.75) and par-5 scoring (5.50).

Senior Tongtong Wu and first-year Melissa Cooke are tied for second-place at 82. The duo combined for 15 pars on the day, with Cooke's eight leading the field. Wu pared both par-5 holes, and is tops in the field in par-5 scoring, while she's also in the top-three in par-3 scoring (3.75) and par-4 scoring (4.75). Cooke's 4.50 strokes per par-4 hole is second-best on the week thus far.

Junior Kayla Audette is in fifth-place at 89, and she rounded out the scorers on the day. Sophomore Riley Thorr (101) rounded out the lineup and senior Devon Matson (102) competed as an individual.

Allegheny, which shot a 367, was led by Izzy Krzys' 86.

Round two is set for Sunday, April 11 at Windmill Lakes.
