Wu the Medalist, as Scots Top Gators by 47 Strokes

Tongtong Wu
Senior Tongtong Wu is the second Scot in program history with three 36-hole scores of 159 or better.

Three College of Wooster women's golfers placed in the top-five, while senior Tongtong Wu's two-day score of 159 goes into the record book tied for the ninth-lowest 36-hole total in program history, as the Fighting Scots finished off the weekend with a 670-717 win over Allegheny College on Sunday at the par-70, 5,603-yard Windmill Lakes Golf Club.

Wu, who upped her program record for medalist honors to four, shot a 77 on Sunday, with that score tied for the 10th-lowest round in program history. Wu, who has the second-lowest 36-hole tournament score of 155 from the 2019 Laura Bump Invitational, now has three 36-hole scores in the program's top-10, and she joins Wooster alumna Emily Howerton as the only players in program history with three 36-hole tournament scores of 159 or better. Wu finished the weekend tops in the field in par-4 (4.50) and par-5 scoring (5.50).

Senior Megan Gronau placed second at 161 after an 83 on Sunday. Gronau was one of three Scots tied for first in par-5 scoring on the weekend at 2-over-par, and she ranked second in the field on the weekend with 3.5 strokes per par-3 hole and 4.63 strokes per par-4 hole. Over the 36 holes, Gronau's 17 holes at par or better were tops in the field.

First-year Melissa Cooke rounded out the Scots in the top-five with a 176. The Scots' rookie carded a 94 on Sunday and finished the weekend tied for third in the field with 12 pars. Junior Kayla Audette was next at 177, and that score was good for a sixth-place finish. Audette was the other Scot who played the four par-5 holes on the weekend at 2-over-par.

Sophomore Riley Thorr had a big bounce back on Sunday with a 91, marking a 10-stroke improvement from Saturday's round. She took ninth at 192.

First-year Drew Patterson shot a collegiate-best 100 while playing as an individual on Sunday and senior Devon Matson shot a 103 as an individual entrant.

Wooster shot a 339 on Sunday, while Allegheny shot a 350. The Gators were led by Izzy Krzys' two-day score of 173.

Next, Wooster's at Denison University on Saturday, April 17.
