TWO SCOTS CAP WEEKEND WITH COLLEGIATE LOWS
Audette, Burtscher go low
GRANVILLE, Ohio – Senior Kayla Audette and sophomore Melissa Burtscher fired collegiate lows on Sunday at the Lynn Schweizer Invitational, while The College of Wooster women's golf team shot 350 again and finished in eighth-place at the par-72, 5,805-yard Denison Golf Club.
Audette's 80 marked the team's low round of the weekend, and it was a nine-stroke bounce back from Saturday. The neuroscience major birded No. 9 to move to 4-over-par on the day, and she logged five pars on the back-nine. Audette finished in 29th-place.
Burtscher was Wooster's top finisher on the weekend at 18th-place. Burtscher, who had an 81 on Sunday to finish at 163, turned in a strong closing stretch with pars on five of the last six holes, and she played the par-three holes at 1-over-par on the day.
First-year Ally Siewert tied for 36th-place in her first collegiate tournament. She shot a 92 on Sunday to finish at 179. Junior Riley Thorr (92-97-189) and sophomore Drew Patterson (108-107-215) comprised the rest of the lineup, and first-year Maddie Moran (112-107-219) improved by five strokes from her Saturday score while competing as an individual.
Emory University led the 10-team field at 590, 20 strokes clear of runner-up Denison. Emory's Ellen Dong and Irene Wang were the medalists at even-par.
Next, Wooster heads to Grove City College's Invitational on Saturday, September 11. The event is slated for a shotgun start at 1:30 p.m.
