Scots Tie For Second at Polar Bear Easter Classic

Kayla Audette, Wooster Golf HARROD, Ohio – The College of Wooster women's golf team's remarkable spring continued on Friday, as the Fighting Scots tied for second-place at the Polar Bear Easter Classic, which was hosted by Ohio Northern University at the par-72, 5,912-yard Colonial Golfers Club.

Wooster, which shot a 370 in wet and extremely gusty conditions, was led by sophomore Melissa Burtscher's 90. Burtscher, who tied for seventh, logged seven pars on the day, including four on the back-nine.

Seniors Kayla Audette and Meghan Wright were next with scores of 92 and 93, respectively. Audette tied for 10th-place, while Wright tied for 12th. Of note, Wright carded the Scots' lone birdie of the day, with that coming on the par-5, 500-yard ninth hole.

First-year Ally Siewert's 95 was 16th on the day. Siewert scored four pars on the front-nine. Junior Riley Thorr had a 98, which tied for 19th, to round out the competing Scots.

Host Ohio Northern led the six-team field with a 348, and the Polar Bears' Grace Honigford was medalist at 82. University of Northwestern Ohio matched Wooster at 370.

Wooster, is next in action at the North Coast Athletic Conference Preview, which is set to take place April 23-24 at Chapel Hill Golf Course in Mt. Vernon, Ohio.
