At least three College of Wooster women's golf team members have qualified for the Women's Golf Coaches Association All-American Scholar Team for the third straight year, and it is the fourth time in the 12-year history of the program where the Fighting Scots are represented by at least three student-athletes. Sophomore Melissa Burtscher, first-year Maddie Moran, and senior Meghan Wright were this year's qualifiers, as announced by the organization on Tuesday.

Burtscher placed seventh at this year's North Coast Athletic Conference Championships with a score of 265. The second-team All-NCAC performer logged the program's second-highest conference finish. Burtscher averaged a team-leading 83.2 strokes per round and captured medalist honors with a co-collegiate-best 76 at the John Carroll University Spring Shootout. Earlier in the year, Burtscher's 82 garnered medalist honors at the Grove City College Fall Invitational. The sophomore helped the team to tournament titles at Grove City, the program's own Eva Shorb Weiskopf Invitational, and John Carroll. Burtscher also led Wooster to a third-place conference finish, with that matching the program's highest ever.

Moran averaged 103.3 strokes over 11 rounds. The first-year's collegiate-low of 97 came in Grove City's event, and she matched that in the final round of the Wooster Fall Invitational.

Wright, who was in the lineup for Wooster's third-place NCAC finish and all three team titles, averaged 92.4 strokes over 14 rounds. The senior tied for fifth-place at John Carroll's event, thanks to a collegiate-best 82.

Of note, 10 different Scots have qualified for the WGCA All-American Scholar Team over the years, and Burtscher is a two-time honoree. Ten of Wooster's 23 all-time WGCA All-American Scholar Team qualifiers have come in the last three years.

Wooster's honorees were among the 1,485 women's collegiate golfers who qualified this year. Eligibility criteria includes student-athletes having at least a 3.50 cumulative GPA and playing in at least 50 percent of the team's rounds.
