Four Named WGCA All-American Scholars
Burtscher, Lindgren, Haywood and Erdmann earn recognition
Four Fighting Scots from the women's golf team were named All-American Scholars via the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) on Monday.
Seniors Grace Lindgren and Melissa Burtscher joined first-years Abby Haywood and Morgan Erdmann as four of 1,497 women collegiate golfers from 412 programs recognized with the honor. This the fifth consecutive year Wooster had at least three qualify for the WGCA All-American Scholar Team.
Burtscher also becomes the fifth Scot to achieve the honor in each of their last four years played. Lindgren also has earned the honor in back-to-back years.
To be selected, a student-athlete must have an overall cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or higher, be on the team's roster through the conclusion of the team's season and have played in 50 percent of the team's regularly scheduled competitive rounds during the year.
The news comes following Burtscher's and Lindgren's selections onto the College Sports Communicator's Academic All-District® Team for women's at-large sports. In addition, the two were named to the 2023-24 North Coast Athletic Conference Academic Honor Roll.
The women's golf team won a program-record six tournaments this year.
The WGCA is a non-profit organization representing women's collegiate golf coaches and represents over 750 coaches throughout the U.S.
