Wooster Takes Third at Home Tournament

WOOSTER, Ohio – The College of Wooster women's golf team celebrated its seniors and placed third with a 354 at the weather-shortened Eva Shorb Weiskopf Invitational, which took place on Monday at the par-72, 5,630-yard Wooster Country Club.
Senior Ally Siewert led Wooster, tying for second with an 83. Siewert had Wooster's lone birdie of the day, with that coming on the par-5, 420-yard 13th hole. Siewert had a strong back nine with a birdie and three pars. She played the back nine at 4-over-par.
Sophomore Abigail Haywood's 86 was next. Haywood placed ninth. Haywood found success late in the round, playing the final six holes of the shotgun-started round at 2-over-par. Haywood's round wrapped up with consecutive pars on the par-5, 415-yard first hole and the par-4, 363-yard second hole.
Third within Wooster's lineup was sophomore Morgan Erdmann with a 90, which tied for 13th-place. Two of Erdmann's pars came on par-5 holes, including No. 1, which was her finishing hole.
Sophomore Paige Nicely's 95 rounded out the scores. She placed 23rd. Nicely's front nine was book-ended with pars on No. 1 and the par-4, 287-yard ninth hole. Nicely scored a second par on par-5 holes with that coming on the 420-yard 13th hole.
Senior Maddie Moran's 96 capped the lineup. Moran tied for 24th-place. Her round was headlined by pars on the par-4, 363-yard second hole, the par-4, 335-yard 12th hole, and par-3, 152-yard 14th hole.
Sophomore Lizzy Hohman led a quartet of Wooster entries as individuals. Her spring debut was a 96, with pars on two of the four par-5 holes.
Wittenberg University won with a 330. The Tigers' Hillary Humbaugh took medalist honors with a 79. Otterbein University was the runner-up at 342.
Next, Wooster plays in Indiana University Kokomo's Spring Shootout, which takes place April 13-14 at Wildcat Creek Golf Course.
