Wooster Too Much for Albion in 23-6 Thrashing

WOOSTER, Ohio – The College of Wooster women's lacrosse team won its seventh-consecutive game on Wednesday, using a high-scoring attack to get the job done once again, as the Fighting Scots sunk Albion College 23-6 at Carl Dale Field.

For the second game in a row, the Scots (8-2, 3-0 NCAC) topped the 20-point margin while earning a decisive win, this time getting goals from eight different players. Wooster led 8-0 just over nine minutes into the game, and later built an insurmountable 15-1 cushion when Amy Denny, Megan Piemonte, and Becca Worthington all scored during a 38 second span heading into the break.

The Scots outshot the Britons by a remarkable 25-2 margin in the opening stanza, but the teams took 11 each in a more closely-contested second period that saw Albion trail just 8-5 in goals scored. Madison Carey assisted on two quick Nina Dine scores that were just 13 seconds apart near the game's close that notched Dine her seventh hat trick this season.

Pacing Wooster were Dine and Carey, who matched each other with identical seven point (3 goals, 4 assists) stat lines. Jess Cleveland and Denny both set new career-highs with four goal outings, and Worthington and Clare Nelson-Johnson each finished with a hat trick.

Wooster will look to make it eight in a row this weekend when they visit WittenbergWittenberg University (8-4, 2-2 NCAC) on Saturday 2 p.m.
