WOOSTER, Ohio – After The College of Wooster used a four-goal run to tie Sunday's game 9-9 around the midway point of the second half, Fredonia State University answered with a 5-1 run to take control and prevailed by that 14-10 score at John P. Papp Stadium.

Wooster (4-2-1) fell into a 5-1 hole early on, but rallied with four of the game's next five scores to pull within 6-5 at the 5:33 mark of the first half. Fredonia State (6-2) closed the half with a couple of goals for an 8-5 advantage.

The defenses controlled the opening minutes of the second before the Blue Devils padded their lead to 9-5 7:20 into the stanza. The Fighting Scots' Shelby Stone kick started the hosts' big run by shoveling a loose ball on the ground into the net. Then, Eliza Perry netted a goal, followed by Clare Nelson-Johnson scoring on a pair of free-position shots just 52 seconds apart, evening the score for the first time since it was 1-1.

Just as it seemed Wooster had the momentum, Fredonia State pumped in a goal 28 seconds later to go back ahead. The Blue Devils made it a two-goal margin before Nelson-Johnson converted her third free position of the period, putting the score at 11-10 with 12:53 remaining.

Again, Fredonia State responded quickly, as the visitors won the ensuing draw control and delivered into the back of the net 34 seconds later. The Blue Devils tacked on two more, then sealed the outcome by owning possession for nearly the entire final six minutes.

In addition to Nelson-Johnson's hat trick, Madison Carey also had one for the Scots with all three of her goals plus an assist coming in the first half. Jaqueline Wallat chipped in two scores as well as four draw controls.

Wooster will host Waynesburg University (1-5) on Thursday at 7:30 p.m
