WOOSTER, Ohio – The College of Wooster women's lacrosse team steadily pulled away from Waynesburg University en route to a decisive 22-3 victory Thursday evening under the lights at John P. Papp Stadium.

Shelby Stone and Madison Carey each scored in the game's opening minute, and the Scots never looked back, as they raced out to a commanding 15-0 lead at the break.

Carey recorded a hat trick just 5:27 into the action, and Clare Nelson-Johnson followed suit shortly after, with her third goal coming midway through the first half.

Overall, Wooster had 10 different players score goals, including one each from defensive players Isabel Baylor and Alison Schlothauer. Also noteworthy, eight different players dished out an assist, including the first of Emily Johnson's career.

Pacing the Scots' offensive outburst was Carey with seven points (5 goals, 2 assists), while Nelson-Johnson (3 goals, 3 assists) and Jaqueline Wallat (2 goals, 4 assists) were right behind her with six points apiece. First-year Ashley Parry had the best game of her young career, totaling two goals and two helpers.

Defensively, Schlothauer led the way with three groundballs and two caused turnovers, while Wallat corralled a team-high four draw controls.

Shawna Ferris and Sarah Ragosta each played a half in goal, and combined to record three saves. Waynesburg was held to just eight shot attempts in all.

Next, Wooster will visit North Coast Athletic Conference rival Wittenberg University on Saturday at 2 p.m.
