WOOSTER, Ohio – After giving up the game's first score, The College of Wooster rattled off 10 unanswered goals to take control of an eventual 17-7 victory over Centre College Saturday afternoon in women's lacrosse action at Carl Dale Field.

Both teams traded runs up the field with neither offense getting much of a look the opening five-plus minutes before Centre (10-3) netted a goal on its second shot. Clare Nelson-Johnson then gained possession, one of nine draw controls on the day for her, and fed Madison Carey for a goal just 13 seconds later.

That kick started a stretch in which Wooster (7-3-1) tossed in 10 scores in less than 15 minutes of playing time. It included a hat trick by Carey and two goals from Eliza Perry and Shelby Stone, and even after the Colonels halted the 10-goal run, the Fighting Scots tacked on four more for a 14-2 halftime cushion.

The second half was a mere formality, with Wooster freely substituting en route to the 10-goal decision.

Nelson-Johnson totaled six points on three goals and three assists, while Carey, despite sitting about 15 minutes of the second half, pumped in four goals to go with one helper. Stone and Jaqueline Wallatt matched each other with two-goal, one-assist stat lines, with the latter adding five draw controls, and Alison Schlothauer tallied one score and two assists.

Centre's Katy Cremer accounted for four of her team's seven goals.

The Scots return to North Coast Athletic Conference play on Tuesday when they host Oberlin College (8-1, 0-1 NCAC) at 5 p.m.
