The College of Wooster women's lacrosse team had seven players voted to the 2012 All-North Coast Athletic Conference Team, and highlighting that group were attacker Madison Carey, midfielder Clare Nelson-Johnson, and defender Molly Sennett, who were selected to the first team, the league office announced Thursday. Earning second-team honors were midfielder Cassie Greenbaum, defender Isabel Baylor, and goalkeeper Shawna Ferris, while midfielder Jaqueline Wallat nabbed honorable mention.

Carey put an exclamation point on her spectacular career with a record-breaking season, as she shattered the program's all-time mark with 94 points (58 goals, 36 assists), which surpassed Beth Hemminger's 85 points in 2003. Her 58 goals, which were just one shy of tying the school record, came at a steady, yet explosive pace, as she totaled 10 hat tricks in all, including seven in a row at one point. She scored a career-high seven goals at Shorter University March 20, but her season-high points total came against Otterbein University April 5, where she scored three times and dished out six helpers for a night-point game. Carey also pumped in a game-winning free-position shot in triple overtime against Allegheny College April 19.

Nelson-Johnson makes her second consecutive appearance on the first team, and third overall, after nearly matching Carey goal-for-goal en route to a career-year. The junior scored 56 times this spring, which were the third-most in the NCAC, and also chipped in 19 assists, resulting in the third-highest point total in school history (75). She was consistent, tallying hat tricks in 14 of the Scots' 18 games, and started the year with eight in a row. Also noteworthy, Nelson-Johnson was 15-for-28 on free-position shots. In addition to her offensive contributions, she led the team and ranked fourth in the league with 68 draw controls, and also scooped up 39 ground balls.

Sennett, a freshman, made a strong impact in her debut campaign, as she helped lead an opportunistic defense that caused a league-high 170 turnovers. The first-year defender paced the Scots with 27 caused turnovers and 48 ground balls, and also evolved into an offensive weapon, totaling 14 goals and five assists. She achieved her first-career hat trick against Denison University April 21, and also registered an assist for a four-point game.

Greenbaum, who was last season's NCAC Newcomer of the Year, showed up all over the stat sheet in 2012, as a key contributor in multiple categories. The defensive-oriented middie ranked among the top 10 in the league in ground balls (44) draw controls (53), and caused turnovers (22), and also produced a solid 26-point season (19 goals, 7 assists) on the offensive end.

Baylor earns a spot on the second-team for the third year in a row, as the athletic defender anchored a unit that held seven opponents to eight goals or less. She finished among the league-leaders in caused turnovers (24) and ground balls (41), and added four goals and an assist on the season. Baylor amassed 65 caused turnovers and 107 ground balls during her four-year career, and helped Wooster to a 43-16-1 (.725) mark in the 60 games she started.

Ferris is now a three-time all-conference pick, having been a second-team selection as a freshman and a first-teamer last year. With a proven track record as one of the NCAC's top goalkeepers, the junior set a career-high with a .466 save percentage, which was third-best in the league. She also led the NCAC with 153 saves, and allowed a respectable 10.74 goals per game. Ferris recorded 10 saves or more in eight games, including a career-high 16 against the University of the South March 12.

Wallat makes her first all-conference appearance after setting career-highs in all major statistical categories. She tied for the third-highest mark on the team with 32 goals and also added 16 assists for a 48-point campaign. Wallat had been a draw control specialist coming into this season, and she still excelled in that role as well, totaling a career-high 34, while scooping 28 ground balls and causing 16 turnovers.
