The College of Wooster led by just one, 4-3, midway through the first half, but the game wasn't nearly as competitive after that, as the Fighting Scots ran away with a 14-5 victory over Concordia University Wisconsin in a women's lacrosse match-up Thursday afternoon at Mequon, Wis.

Ellie Hudson-Heck had already logged the second hat trick of her young career just 13:51 into the action to put Wooster (3-1) up 4-2, but Concordia (1-1) responded moments later to make it a one-goal game.

The Scots went on a six-goal scoring run after that, including four before the half from four different players – Cassie Greenbaum, Eliza Perry, Clare Nelson-Johnson, and Hudson-Heck – and then two at the start of the second half from two others – Molly Sennett and Abby Szlachta – which gave Wooster a strong 10-3 advantage.

Leading 11-4 with less than four minutes remaining in the game, Wooster continued to show its depth as it got goals off the bench from Ashley Parry, Shannan Pullara, and Heather Honn, which put an exclamation point on its eventual 14-5 non-league triumph.

Overall, nine different Scots got into the scoring column, which was just one less (10) than they had in their win over Thiel College last weekend.

The score could have been closer, as Concordia didn't trail by much in shot attempts (24-19), but goalkeeper Shawna Ferris made 10 saves, and the defense caused 16 turnovers, with seven coming from standouts Sennett (4) and Kari Martyniak (3).

All five of Concordia's goals came from the stick of Sammi Reiter.

Wooster will stay in Mequon, Wis., as it plays Carthage College Friday in a neutral-site game at 1 p.m. CT.
