In a game filled with runs, The College of Wooster women's lacrosse team strung together a late 5-0 stretch, pulling away to an 18-11 victory over Allegheny College in North Coast Athletic Conference play Tuesday night at Meadville, Pa.

Allegheny (6-3, 0-2 NCAC) opened the second half with a 5-1 run that brought the Gators within two, 11-9 at the 18:58 mark. Wooster (7-1, 1-0 NCAC) then called a timeout, won the ensuing draw control, and Alison Schlothauer scored about 90 seconds later off a feed from Eliza Perry.

With the momentum back, Wooster netted four more unanswered goals, all by different players, during the next 6:05 to construct a 16-9 advantage with 11:24 remaining. The Scots' defense made the comfortable lead hold up, yielding just two more scores.

The Gators opened the game with three of the first four goals to take a 3-1 lead less than five minutes in, only to see Wooster control the remainder of the opening half, outscoring the hosts 9-1 to take a 10-4 cushion into intermission.

The Scots' offense, which scored 18-plus goals for the fourth time in six games, was paced by Perry, who had three goals plus five assists for a career-high eight points, and Ellie Hudson-Heck, who scored five goals on as many shot attempts. Also recording hat tricks were Shelby Stone and Abby Szlachta.

Defensively, Kari Martyniak was credited with three caused turnovers and Isabel Perman made five saves to help preserve the win.

Wooster continues NCAC action on Saturday with a trip to Hiram College (3-5, 0-1 NCAC).
