The College of Wooster's nine-game win streak came to an end Wednesday evening, as North Coast Athletic Conference rival Wittenberg University scored 14 goals in the first half on its way to a 19-13 victory over the Fighting Scots at Edward-Maurer Field in Springfield, Ohio.

The Scots (9-2, 2-1 NCAC) led in shot attempts (31-29) and groundballs (31-28) on the day, and even turned the ball over less (25-31), but the Tigers (7-3, 4-0 NCAC) were hard to slow down in the first half, as they scored the majority of their goals then to take a 14-6 lead at the halftime break.

It was then that lightning was spotted in the area, which turned halftime into a nearly two-hour long delay. The second half didn't begin until around 9:45 p.m.

Wooster got off to a fast start when the game resumed, as Molly Sennett and Eliza Perry each scored less than four minutes into the second stanza to pull the Scots within six (14-8).

Wittenberg responded moments later to make it 15-8, and the neither team scored again over the next 11-plus minutes of action. Both schools traded goals throughout the latter parts of the second half, though, and in the end, Wooster outscored Wittenberg by two goals (7-5) in the period.

Perry continued her strong season with a five-point effort (4 goals, 1 assist), and Shelby Stone added four points on three goals and a helper to round out the Scots' offensive leaders.

Also noteworthy, Cassie Greenbaum won six draw controls, and Sennett recorded five groundballs and a caused turnover.

The Tigers were led by two eight-point scorers – Logan Wayne (6 goals, 2 assists) and Francine Murzynski (5 goals, 3 assists).

Wooster will look to start a new streak when it hosts DePauw University (4-2, 1-2 NCAC) Saturday at 1 p.m.
