College of Wooster women's lacrosse standout Shawna Ferris was voted on to the Capital One Academic All-District First Team for at-large sports, the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced on Thursday. It is the third consecutive year she has received the recognition, and repeating her 2012 first-team selection, she's now eligible for Academic All-American® honors.

Ferris, a goalkeeper, was previously named on the All-North Coast Athletic Conference First Team, her second first-team nod and fourth overall all-conference honor. She not only led the league with a .525 save percentage, but currently ranks 11th in the NCAA Div. III national statistics in that category as well as 32nd in goals against average (8.64). Ferris missed seven of Wooster's games this spring due to injury, but came back and played a key role in leading the team to the NCAC championship game as she made 14 saves during a 14-13 double-overtime win at top-seeded Wittenberg University in the semifinals.

Off the field, Ferris carried a 3.98 grade-point average while majoring in communication studies with a minor in political science. She also was the treasurer of the school's communications club, a writing center tutor, and member of the Student Athletic Advisory Committee.

Within NCAA Div. III District 7 (Illinois, Indiana, and Ohio), just 12 student-athletes were honored by CoSIDA from the women's at-large sports (crew, fencing, field hockey, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, swimming, tennis, and water polo).
