Stone Earns NCAC Weekly Honor

With the final spot in the North Coast Athletic Conference Tournament hanging in the balance, The College of Wooster was victorious in two must-win games last week behind the efforts of Shelby Stone, as the junior attacker totaled 11 points en route to NCAC Player-of-the-Week honors.

Stone has played especially well turn the Fighting Scots' late-season push, including last week, when she scored nine goals and passed out two assists in wins over Ohio Wesleyan University (18-9) and Oberlin College (15-11).

On Wednesday at Ohio Wesleyan, Stone scored four goals and added two assists to tie a season-high with six points. Then Saturday at Oberlin, Stone scored five times, with three of her goals coming in a row during Wooster's game-changing six-goal run in the second half. She also scooped of five groundballs and won a draw control on the week.

Stone, who ranks third on the team with 41 points (24 goals, 17 assists), will look to keep up her strong play when the Scots visit Wittenberg University in the NCAC Tournament semifinals on Wednesday at 6 p.m.
