Hudson-Heck's Fourth First-Team All-NCAC Certificate Leads Quartet of All-Conference Honorees

 Wynn Boehmcke
 Ellie Hudson-Heck

The College of Wooster women's lacrosse team's Wynn Boehmcke and Ellie Hudson-Heck earned repeat honors on the All-North Coast Athletic Conference first-team, while Emma Lawrence and Abby Szlachta picked up second-team and honorable mention certificates respectively, as announced by the conference office on Wednesday.

Hudson-Heck's first-team mention stands out in particular, as the senior joins Beth Hemminger (2000-03), Megan Kennedy (2000-03), and Meg Wood (1992-95) as the only four-time All-NCAC first-team honorees in program history.

In conference play, Hudson-Heck tallied 26 goals to go along with 11 assists. The senior also turned in substantial contributions in transition and on the defensive end of the field with 25 draw controls, 25 groundballs, and 15 caused turnovers. However, a few out-of-conference milestones stood out in particular this season. First, Hudson-Heck tied the single-game program record with an eight-goal outing at Whitman College. Then, she set the single-season record with her 60th goal against Denison University in the NCAC Tournament to close her career with 200 goals, a total second in the program annals.

Boehmcke, now a two-time first-teamer, finished with 26 groundballs and 11 caused turnovers in NCAC contests. The junior scooped up a career-best seven groundballs against Allegheny College, and helped the Fighting Scots rank second with 23.62 groundballs and third with 10.12 caused turnovers per NCAC contest.

Lawrence was instrumental in numerous facets of the game, especially on the draw where she totaled 41 in conference contests. The freshman turned in a stellar performance in a 14-13 win over Oberlin College with 10 draws, breaking the single-season program record in the process, a total she later upped to 81 during the conference tournament. Lawrence also scooped up 15 groundballs and caused nine turnovers in NCAC outings.

Szlachta, who earned all-conference honors for the second straight year, recorded 21 goals and four assists in league play. She was one of the big keys in Wooster's 12-8 win over Kenyon College with four goals. The senior also contributed eight groundballs and five caused turnovers.

Wooster finished the 2016 season with an 11-6 record, including a 4-4 mark in NCAC play. The Scots advanced to the conference tournament for the 23rd straight year, and are the only team to qualify for every single NCAC Tournament.

Note: All-conference honors are based on statistics from NCAC regular-season games.
