Scot Lax Duo, Team Garner IWLCA Academic Recognition

Heather Szymanski
Helena Enders

The College of Wooster women's lacrosse team earned a trio of academic accolades for its performance in the classroom, as announced by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association on Wednesday afternoon.

For the fifth consecutive year, the Fighting Scots, as a team, earned Academic Honor Roll distinction for having a collective grade-point average of 3.0 or higher.

Additionally, two players – recent graduate Heather Szymanski and junior Helena Enders – came away with individual Academic Honor Roll nominations. To qualify, individuals must have reached junior status academically and hold at least a 3.50 grade-point average.

Szymanski, who received an individual citation from the IWLCA last year, earn All-North Coast Athletic Conference honors as part of a stellar capstone year, logging career-bests in goals (52) and assists (15). The senior captain twice matched her career-high in goals with seven against Ohio Wesleyan (April 8) and DePauw (April 22).

Enders, a junior attacker out of Lake Oswego, Ore., put up a career year with 40 goals and 13 assists, highlighted by a breakout game at Allegheny (April 26), where she recorded single-game career bests in points (8) and goals (5).

In all, the IWLCA honored 531 Div. III student-athletes from 156 different institutions, including four other members from the NCAC.
