Women’s Lacrosse Cruises to 20-4 Win
Woodbury highlights a number of career-high performances
The College of Wooster women's lacrosse team had little issue picking up its third win of the season on Saturday with a 20-4 win over Marietta University.
The Scots were led by a four-goal performance from Bella Woodbury, which was a career-high from the sophomore. Kenzie Morris, Brynne Snaguski and Ann Venditti all scored three goals.
It was career-highs for the sophomore Snaguski and the senior Venditti as well. For Morris, it was her third straight multi-goal game.
Ciara O'Connor, Madelyn Noll and Lizzie Hardy each had two goals, while Kenzie Smith rounded out the scoring with one.
It was Noll's first multi-goal game of her career, while O'Connor and Smith have scored in all three games.
Junior Ashley Reynolds made four saves in the win in just 38:22. First-year Audrey Richardson played the final 21:38 in goal.
Hardy, Ashlyn Casey and Sidney O'Rourke each collected four groundballs, while Hardy and O'Rourke tallied seven draw controls.
The two teams exchanged opening goals before Wooster scored six unanswered in a span that carried over into the early minutes of the second quarter.
Woodbury opened the scoring as she and Morris each scored twice to propel Wooster to a 7-1 lead. O'Connor scored twice in the second quarter, and Snaguski scored with 38 seconds left before the half to give Wooster a 9-3 lead.
Wooster then ran away with it with a 7-0 third quarter and a 4-1 fourth. Woodbury and Snaguski each scored twice in the third, while Venditti scored her first of three with 1:16 left in the quarter.
Wooster outshot Marietta 40-11 and converted on 4 of 8 free position shots. Wooster also went 14 of 16 on clear attempts and totaled 22 groundballs.
Entering, Marietta (3-1) had scored at least 20 goals in their first three games en route to dominating victories. Natalie Cocco led the Pioneers with three goals.
Wooster (3-0) will hit the road Thursday to face Washington and Jefferson College.
