Record 10 Scots Named to IWLCA Honor Roll
Women's lacrosse tops previous record of eight from last year
After setting a record with eight last year, The College of Wooster women's lacrosse team put a new record of 10 student-athletes on the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association's Academic Honor Roll. In addition, the team made the IWLCA Academic Honor Squad for the 11th straight time.
The list of individual qualifiers includes seniors Angelina Bolivar, Molly Kershner, Ciara O'Connor, Kenzie Smith, Ann Venditti, juniors Adele Dooner, Kaitlyn McBride, Kenzie Morris, Madelyn Noll and Lexi Sarne.
O'Connor and Morris are coming off College Sports Communicators' Academic All-District® Team selections.
Morris became a three-time All-NCAC honoree after finishing third in the conference in scoring at 3.33 goals per game and leading the team with 50 goals and 61 points. O'Connor appeared in all 15 games and finished fourth on the team at 29 goals.
Smith joined Morris on the All-NCAC Team and added IWLCA All-Region honors. Smith was second on the team with 54 points and 49 goals scored, surpassing 100 career points.
Sarne was another member of the All-NCAC team who was one of the team's top defenders, ranking second with 22 caused turnovers and adding a career-high 30 groundballs.
Bolivar was another who helped on the defensive end, tying for fifth on the team with 12 caused turnovers.
On the other end, McBride was a key contributor on the offensive end, scoring 23 goals and dishing out 21 assists for fourth on the team at 44 points. Noll scored seven goals and recorded 10 points in ten games.
Kershner, Dooner saw limited playing time. Venditti appeared in three games and scored three goals.
To qualify, the student-athlete must be at least a junior and have a 3.5 cumulative GPA.
Meanwhile, the team qualified for the honor squad by posting at least a 3.2 team GPA for the academic year.
