Q: Why did you choose to attend The College of Wooster?
A: Coach Elizabeth Ford seemed like a great fit and the school would challenge me academically. I wanted a school that would set me up nicely for the future.
Q: What does being a Fighting Scot student-athlete mean to you?
A: Being a Fighting Scot student-athlete means taking pride in the colors we wear and the name across our chest. It means playing for the program and the school we go to.
Q: What are some of your favorite memories as a student at The College of Wooster?
A: One of my favorite memories is when our team took a trip to the Netherlands and Belgium. My coach knew I was interested in taking the team to play abroad and told me to draw up some plans. A year and some change later, we were all on a flight to Amsterdam. Seeing a small part of the world with great people is a memory I will cherish forever.
Q: What is the best part about being a student-athlete at The College of Wooster?
A: I have met my best friends on my team. The people who come to this school are some of the most interesting I have ever met, and they all have something to offer. The people on my team are all interested in various things, and that makes us a diverse bunch.
Q: What else were you involved with on campus besides your sport?
A: I am a Morgan's Message ambassador, I managed the club hockey team, and I have student jobs in the athletic training room and in the weight room.
Q: Which College of Wooster faculty or staff member has impacted you most and why?
A: Coach Josh Mace, our strength and conditioning coach, has been an important person in my life. He has provided a great deal of support to me these past few years in regards to playing and my personal life. He is constantly pushing me to be the best version of myself. Our chats in his office will forever be cherished and I can not thank him enough for his support.
Q: What other people or resources impacted your Wooster experience in a positive way and how did these people and resources set you up to be successful at Wooster?
A: My advisor, Dr. Peter Abramo, has been a key player in my success at the College. He has helped guide me through the process of creating my own major, making sure I did not settle for something that will make me unhappy in the long run. He has challenged me during my Independent Study and has also made sure that I will actually complete it.
Q: Tell us a bit about your Independent Study project.
A: I am doing a content analysis of the NFL's Instagram pages in both the United States and Germany to see if there is evidence of adaptation. My research aims at understanding how the NFL grew a mainstream audience in Germany using Instagram.
Q: Tell us a bit about something cool you did as a student at The College of Wooster?
A: I went abroad to Germany in the fall of my junior year. I loved how many programs were offered by Wooster. I found a program that put me at the same university all my cousins and family graduated from in Germany. My program traveled a lot, and I did on my own time as well. I visited 12 countries while studying abroad.
Q: Reflecting back on your time at Wooster, what advice would you give your first-year self?
A: Take a breath. Four years is going to fly by and one day you will be filling one of these surveys out. Make sure you take it all in!
