Scots Cruise Past Hornets, Improve To 4-0
Morris now fourth in career goals as Scots win 23-8
The College of Wooster women's lacrosse team had little difficulty Saturday in its 23-8 non-conference win over Kalamazoo College.
Wooster went on a run of 14 straight goals to start the game, including a 12-0 opening stanza.
Senior Kenzie Morris tied for a game-high four goals and added an assist. She also added four draw controls.
Morris now has 162 goals scored in her career, tied for fourth all-time in program history. Her 197 career points is one shy from entering the top 10, and she is also inching towards 200 draw controls, settled at 193 after Saturday's contest.
Eight Scots collected multi-goal games as Wooster was four scores shy of the program record for goals scored in a single game.
Juniors Lizzie Hardy and Brynne Snaguski each recorded a hat trick.
Junior Bella Woodbury got the scoring going as she, Rowan Pilon, Priya Nehria, Mizan Jacobs and Sophia Mellis all scored two goals.
Also getting in the scoring column was Cassidy Driscoll, Kaitlyn McBride and Madelyn Noll.
Noll also added a game-high four assists and another four ground balls. First-year Sofia Durfee recorded her first points with a pair of assists as well.
Junior Sidney O'Rourke led the midfield with seven groundballs and six draw controls.
Sophomore Audrey Richardson made one save and allowed two scores in playing the first half. First-year Taylor Noe made three saves in playing the second half in her first action as a Fighting Scot.
Wooster dominated from start to finish, outshooting the Hornets 38-17 and winning 22 of 34 draw controls. They also won the ground ball battle 27-8.
Wooster moves to 4-0 while Kalamazoo drops to 0-6. This was the second meeting between the two schools and the second win for the Scots.
Next, Wooster hosts Rockhurst University on Wednesday.
