Wooster Ninth in First NPI
Fighting Scots currently 11-0 against Div. III competition
The College of Wooster women's lacrosse team checked in at No. 9 in the first NCAA Div. III Power Index, which was released on Monday afternoon.
Wooster checked in with an 11-0 record, as the NCAA Power Index - more commonly known as NPI - only counts games against Div. III programs. Wooster's lone loss on the season came against Rockhurst University, a NCAA Div. II team. Senior Kenzie Morris surpassed 200 career points and draw controls, junior Lizzie Hardy surpassed 200 draw controls, and senior Lexi Sarne recently scooped up her 100th groundball.
Through games played April 7, Wooster has the 11th-highest scoring offense in Div. III at 16.8 goals per game and ranks eighth nationally with just shy of 36 shots per game. Hardy's 6.33 draw controls per game rank in the top-40 nationally, while sophomore Audrey Richardson's 8.24 goals-against average is in the top-35 nationally.
The NCAA Power Index, more commonly known as NPI, is in its first season being used as the selection process for the NCAA Div. III Championship. The 2025 women's lacrosse championship field features 47 teams, 30 of which are automatic qualifiers from conferences. In the North Coast Athletic Conference, the tournament champion is the league's automatic qualifier. The final 17 at-large teams in the field are the top 17 teams from the NCAA Power Index who are not an automatic qualifier following the conclusion of games on May 4.
Wooster takes on Ohio Wesleyan University (8-4, 0-1 NCAC) at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 8.
