10-3 Second Half Results in 10-Goal Win Over OWU
Wooster now 12-1
WOOSTER, Ohio – A series of recent tightly-contested games decided by one or two goals is no more, as The College of Wooster women's lacrosse team dominated Ohio Wesleyan University in the second half to pull away from the Battling Bishops 17-7 on Tuesday evening at John P. Papp Stadium.
Wooster (12-1, 2-0 North Coast Athletic Conference) outscored Ohio Wesleyan (8-5, 0-2 NCAC) 10-2 over the final 29:17, which was capped by a 5-0 Fighting Scots' run featuring five different goal scorers. Senior Kenzie Morris' 34th goal of the season with 4:13 remaining all but put away the game, as that upped Wooster's lead to 14-7. Wooster won all three draw controls that followed Morris' goal and held Ohio Wesleyan to two possessions, both of which ended in turnovers. Morris knocked the ball from Kaitlyn Sanders in the final minute, scooped up the groundball, then found first-year Mizan Jacobs open for a goal to put the exclamation point on the victory.
At the onset, Wooster raced out to a 3-0 lead with goals from junior Lizzie Hardy, senior Madelyn Noll, and junior Bella Woodbury, but Ohio Wesleyan overcame the Scots' start, tying the game at three in the opening minutes of the second quarter. Noll's feeds to senior Kaitlyn McBride and junior Sophia Mellis broke the tie, while Morris extended Wooster's advantage to 7-4 just before halftime.
